That’s why I find myself watching Lost on DVD most evenings and weekends. I heard about this show back in 2004 during its first season because it got rave reviews from critics and won a host of Emmy awards, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. I waited out the second season in case the first was a fluke (like Heroes), and then when the praise continued, I went ahead and ordered Lost on DVD. Of course, since we’re talking about a popular, mainstream network television program here, it’s easy to find Lost on DVD. Every major retailer carries the individual season box sets, so no matter where you live or which store you prefer to shop at, you’ll be able to find this show.

The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, of which the Bride was a former member, are the assassins who make the attempt. The Bride sets out to get her revenge on each member but she needs a special weapon to do it with. This is where the Kill Bill sword comes in. The Bride goes to Okinawa to ask Hattori Hanzo, a legendary swordsmith, to come out of retirement to make her a katana. This is a type of long single edged, curved Japanese sword, used by the Samurai of feudal Japan. The katana has achieved mythical status because of its efficiency in cutting and its remarkable sharpness.

Almost everyone has watched ‘The View’ TV show at some time or another. While I suspect women comprise their main audience, it’s only because women, such as SAHMs, are at home during the morning time slot. However, both women and men take advantage of programmable recording devices to watch this popular show at their leisure. So what’s the secret to this program’s success? One factor is surely the makeup of the panel members. While the panel leans toward liberal viewpoints in general, Barbara Walters serves both sides by turn. Whoopi Goldberg inserts humor and deftly moderates what might have turned into spats, keeping everyone on track and keeping the talk civil.

The transition from Marvel comic book superhero to film has been a successful one, especially in the case of the Spiderman the movie trilogy. The character, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko has a loyal following and the films did not disappoint. They contain terrific casting, stories and special effects. Continuity has been assured because Sam Raimi has directed all three. Tobey Maguire gives a sensitive performance as Peter Parker, a shy young man who is coping with the normal problems of adolescence as well as having an alter ego. He is very much in love with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) but true love never runs smooth.

The process includes too many different aspects to list here, but some of the biggies are hiring a staff, finding investors or other means of funding the project, and hammering out distribution details to ensure that the movie will be shown in major markets across the country. In short, this is not the kind of job you can get without experience, which is another reason that film production schools are so important. The first step to attending film production school is to check out the basic entry requirements of the institution you want to attend. Courses are typically offered at both the graduate and undergraduate level, so you’ll be able to enroll whether you’re a high school senior, a college grad, or someone simply looking to change careers.

The combination of science fiction and a teen show is an unusual one. This was the premise for Phil of the Future, which originally aired on the Disney Channel for two seasons  (2004-2006). The show has been repeated at various times, including a run on the Disney UK channel. Fans can also relive the series on DVD. Gadgets & Gizmos includes four episodes, one of which had not been seen on TV. The Disney Channel Holiday DVD also contains a previously unseen episode. The Phil of the Future video game features Blahs, which are mischievous pets from the future. The show is about the Diffy family and their time travel adventure.

The tabloid newspapers and magazines are full of hastily taken images by the paparazzi. There is a tradition however, of artistically pleasing photos of celebrities. Some of these have cemented the reputation of the photographer involved and have become iconic images of their era. The interest in the famous is not new and there are many books that celebrate the world of show business, the arts and sport as seen through a lens. Some of the books available are collections of photos of celebrities, compiled from magazines. People Magazine: Celebrity Weddings contains photos and reports of star studded weddings including ceremonies, the wedding cake, the wedding dress and guest list.

The movie industry is a fiercely competitive one and gaining qualifications is a recognized route into this exciting world. The UCLA Film School has an excellent reputation and is a part of the only institution in the United States to offer Theatre, Film and TV studies. The school’s list of alumni is most impressive and includes iconic figures such as Jim Morrison and James Dean. Actors to graduate include Jack Black, Mark Harmon, Tom Skerritt, and Ben Stiller. Film directors include Francis Ford Coppola, Rob Reiner and Alex Cox. The curriculum delivers BA, MA, MFA, and PhD programs in Theatre, Film, TV, and Digital Media.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld played a version of himself and his buddies were George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Kramer (Michael Richards). Most of the scenes are set in Jerry’s Manhattan apartment or Monk’s Café, where the friends hang out. If there really is a ‘New York kind of humor’, the Seinfeld show is a great example. Friends ran for ten seasons from 1994, becoming an international success. The show made household names of its ensemble cast. This New York TV show also had a regular meeting place for the characters. The Central Perk coffee house is set in Greenwich Village and took its name from Central Park.

Joel and Ethan Coen have produced, written and directed many successful movies but the one with the biggest cult following has to be The Big Lebowski. The success of the movie is helped by the The Big Lebowski soundtrack. It is an imaginative mix of different styles and each song or tune represents what the major characters are going through. Many well known artists were chosen but sometimes with less well known songs. Carter Burwell, who has collaborated with the Coen Brothers on many projects, wrote the original film score. Take the songs away from a film and they often don’t stand up but The Big Lebowski soundtrack does stand all on its own and can be enjoyed for its own sake.
